A large body sherd of a salt-glazed stoneware tankard of post medieval date (1500-1950). The fabric is a hard almost plastic stoneware which is mica rich. The fabric is a reduced mid grey colour with an iron rich brown surface which is mottled by the salt glaze. The sherd comprises the side wall and attached handle; the rim and base are missing so overall size cannot be suggested. Post Medieval vessel rim sherd from a large vessel, probably a platter, with cream glaze, with a scalloped decoration to the rim. Pale cream body, slightly hackly with fine inclusions and voids. The glaze is detaching from the fabric, and a number of flakes of glaze where found with the sherd. Dates to between c1500 and c1600 AD.
