A near complete Roman cast copper alloy umbonate plate brooch dating to (100 - 250 AD). only the pin is missing. The brooch is broadly sub circular in plan with four projecting knops placed at its cardinal directions. In profile the main body of the brooch is a shallow domed with a convex front and concave reverse. This the has a concentric flat circular plate acting as a rim from which the knops project. The rim has a wide groove and a fine ridge on the outer edge as a border. A copper alloy heraldic badge. It is quatrefoil in shape, with points between the leaves. A solid plain band is around the outside of this. Inside is a device of initials surmounted by a crown with fleur-de-lys central ornament and two half fleur-de-lys as the outside ornaments. The initial are,as the finder indicates, either a V and W or just W. There are traces of dark blue enamel in the field of the badge, the rear has one central raised point to mount it. A probable cap badge, of copper alloy, It is circular, with a heavy fixing hook on the rear of the plate. The design is of three flowers equally spaced around the badge. The flowers are indented, consisting of six circular petals and a ring of many stamens, with a clear centre. The field of the badge appears to have blue enamel and the stamens are enamelled with red. An incomplete medieval copper alloy buckle plate. The plate is rectangular, flat, and has two incomplete arms at one end. Three rivet holes are located along the opposite side. An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman Colchester Derivative Hinged brooch dating to c.AD 75-150. Mackreth 2011, CD  H 9.b, East Midlands Enamelled The wings are cylindrical with a rectangular slot to accommodate the pin, which is intact. At the head of the bow are three rectangular cells decreasing in size, which would have contained enamel.
