A book clasp, 44.1mm in length and of Howsam Type A.3 (hooked fishtail). The clasp retains both front and rear plates which would originally have held a strap. The rear end is flared with a notched edge and incised linear decoration imitation feathers. There are further incised lines running up the plate to the hook, which has a rectangular transverse collar. There are three decoration pierced holes near the rear end and three rivet holes which retain copper alloy rivets. The object is bent in the middle.
