Copper alloy possible vessel fragment. A fragment of thin sheet with one straight edge, curved at its ends and thinned and broken along its remaining long edge. Two holes appear to have been punched from the same side. Black material forms a coating on either side; this might arise from the post-medieval treatment of metalwork with oil or lacquer, or more probably from sooting if this object had indeed formed part of a vessel used over the hearth. Suggested date: Medieval, 1200-1500 Length: 25.1mm, Width: 13mm, Thickness: 1.2mm, Weight: 1.86gms
