A Georgian fob seal matrix with a rectangular brown glass intaglio depicting a robed, standing female figure with long hair, holding in the left hand a staff with a trefoil terminal and in the right, an uncertain object, possibly a bouquet of flowers. The intaglio is held in a copper alloy body with a pyramidal reverse tapering to a handle formed of a pair of S-shaped arms which join at a pointed suspension loop infilled with remains of a rusted iron ring. Traces of gilding remain.

An incomplete, dark orange/pink glass intaglio set within a gilded copper alloy frame and dating to the late Post Medieval to Modern period (AD 1700-1900). An incomplete glass and gilded copper-alloy Post-Medieval Seal Matrix or Fob Seal, dating c:- AD 1700 - 1850. The oval orange glass intaglio and the copper alloy frame surrounding its edge survive. The intaglio features a bust with a prominent nose facing right, wearing a tight fitting hat made of woven strap like material. Three bunches of hair hang from beneath this, at the back of the head.

A Post Medieval translucent glass intaglio originally set into a fob or pedestal seal matrix., probably dating to circa AD 1700-1800. The glass is an orange/amber colour and is broadly oval in form with the copper alloy surround having long curved edges and short angular sides. The copper alloy surround is decorated with bevelled edges. Evidence of a gilded surface survives. The impression face on the glass is in the form of a male bust facing left. Incomplete glass and gilded copper alloy post Medieval to Modern seal matrix or fob seal. Only the glass intaglio part of the fob and the copper alloy frame surrounding the edges of the glass survive. The matrix is oval and of reddish-orange colour and is engraved with a female bust in Classical style facing left; the bust has drapery around the shoulders and the hair is done in an elaborate fashion with braiding. Seal matrices of this type are typically dated to the Georgian era into the early Victorian period, c.1700-1830.

Incomplete Georgian fob seal. A copper alloy oval domed frame with gilded 'sunburst' ridged decoration. Small hole in the top due to corrosion. The dome is 20mm in length and 10mm deep, with a plain band around the outer edge. The glass matrix is seperate from the dome housing. It is a light amber colour. It has been cut oval, flat on one side and with 20 faces on the reverse side. A capital letter H is engraved on the flat side. Similar example can be seen at LVPL-ECD886.

A complete white glass intaglio from an 18th century ‘fob-seal’ The intaglio is oval in plan with a bevelled edge at the front. At the front, a bearded bust faces left (as viewing an impression). It is set within an oval copper-alloy frame that has minute traces of gilding on the underside. The upper face has two small deposits of solder on one of the longer sides. 26.5 x 22.6 x 3.2mm. Weight: 5.36g.

An incomplete seal matrix with an oval glass intaglio mounted within an oval copper alloy setting upon which there are traces of gilding.
