A reworked Neolithic polished stone reworked axehead. It is roughly oval in shape and plano-convex in cross section. Several areas on both faces feature the original polished surface and this is particularly apparent at the butt end of one face. The outer end appears to have broken away, however, and the remaining portion of the axe has been retouched with large, scaled, invasive flakes to allow it to be reused. The stone is light grey in colour, perhaps some kind of flint, with some patination and patches of high gloss in places. The original polished axe would have been of Neolit…

A complete flint polished axehead of Neolithic date. It is struck from a mottled pale grey to white flint, is roughly triangular in form and pointed oval in section with flattened/faceted edges. The rounded butt end is complete and has limited short, long angled and scaled retouch on both faces. Both sides of the axe have flattened, rectangular faces that are smoothly polished and narrow towards each end of the axe. Each of the faces are smoothly polished with few flake scars visible, although with some orange/brown staining probably resultant from plough damage. At the blade end the …

An incomplete and re-worked polished Neolithic axehead. It is roughly oval in form and pointed-oval in cross section, and struck from a mottled pale grey flint. One edge and part of one face have the remains of extensive polishing, however the surrounding areas of both faces have extensive flake removal. The axe is very sort and both ends of the object have short, semi-abrupt and scaled retouch. Thissuggeststhat it may have been damaged or broken in antiquity and then subsequently re-worked for different usage, the original polished axe being much larger. It measures 73.29mm in length…

A long and narrow fragment probably from the side of a Neolithic polished axehead. Measuring 67mm in length, 5mm in width and 15mm in thickness, it is roughly semi-circular in cross-section and faceted with one flat face and four others forming the arched part of the semi-circular cross-section. It has two longitudinal fractures. The remainder shows three faces which are all-over polished. This is similar to all-over polished axe heads with polished sides. It is banded dark to pale grey.

The butt end of a thick polished flint axehead with a 'recent' break. Measuring 83m in surviving length, 65mm in width and 40mm in thickness. The butt is broad and widens towards the blade end. Large flake scars survive beneath the polish. One side is polished into an almost flat face, the other has ?recent damage. The flint is medium grey and stained varied 'rusty' browns on the surface, where it is undamaged. This axehead is Neolithic in date.

Group of 82 worked flints. The flint quality is variable but probably mainly small scale localised material (80% have cortex). The assemblage is very flake based and is therefore no earlier in date than late Neolithic. The arrowhead is early Bronze Age and it is possible that the other flakes are also early Bronze Age in date, though a crudeness of technique seems to suggest a slightly later date too. 1-2: Squat flakes, one with hinge fracture, both patinated. 3-6: Four flakes made from earlier patinated struck flints. 7-10: Four patinated flakes with later unpatinated ed…

A central fragment of a flint leaf-shaped biface, possibly from a leaf-shaped arrowhead or a plano-convex knife. It has a plano-convex cross-section with fine all-over retouch on the convex face and more limited retouch on the flat face. The flint is patinated a medium pale blue/grey. This implement could be Neolithic, if it is indeed a leaf arrowhead or early Bronze Age if it is a plano-convex knife.

All sides and faces are polished smooth, though numerous flake scars are only partly polished out. The rest of this axehead is missing due to an old break. It measures 96mm in surviving length and 48mm in width, at the break. It is Neolithic in date.
