Cast copper alloy pin head with stamped ring-and-dot decoration. Early Medieval in date. The head is sub-circular, wth a flattened top. It is 10mm in diameter. The pin extends 3mm from the base before the break, and is circular in section and is 2.5mm in diameter. There are 20 ring-and-dot motifs stamped and equally spaced around the head.

A cast copper alloy Charles I unite (20 shilling) coin weight, dating from between 1625-32. The flat square weight measures 17mm by 16.9mm by 4.4mm and weighs 8.5g. On the front there is a stamped crown, with XXs (for 10 shillings) underneath and a counterstamp to the right of the crown. On the back is a left-facing bust of Charles I.

From the flat platform area at the top, the sides angle downwards, creating a roughly trapezoidal top section; the lower two thirds of the implement have rounded edges. A cast copper alloy rotary casket key of probable medieval date. The key measures 36.2mm by 12.8mm by 4.4mm and weighs 6.7g. The external diameter of the circular bow is 13.4mm and its central perforation, 6.3mm. The key has a hollow stem with oval cross section and an unelaborate bit with a cleft on each side. A number of similar keys are illustrated in Brian Read's 'Metal Artefacts of Antiquity' (2001, pp. 67, 72, nos. 544-547). These examples have all been dated from the late twelfth to early fourteenth centuries.

An incomplete sheet copper alloy folded rivet, probably a repair for a copper alloy vessel of medieval to post-medieval date. The rivet is made from a lozenge-shaped piece of sheet which has been folded twice at each end. The rivet has been pierced off-centre. A similar rivet is illustrated in Egan's 'Medieval Household' (1998, p. 176, no. 489). Dimensions: 50.5mm by 14.6mm by 3.1mm. Weight: 4.4g.

The brooch is in the shape of a stylised horse with Romano-British styled decoration in the form of blocks of enamel, but has a realistic shaped head, if slightly simplified. Large chape, probably for a scabbard but possibly also for a staff. The shape resembles an open-tipped cone. It tapers from the wider, broken end to the narrower, neat end. There is ribbed decoration covering the chape in a lengthways direction. A cast copper-alloy drop handle lug which probably formed part of a chafing dish of late medieval or post-medieval date. Similar handle lugs were also used for small chests and casks. The lug measures 23.3mm by 16.1mm by 9.3mm, and weighs 16.1g. It is in the form of a flat oval cylinder, which has a central circular perforation (diameter 6.7mm) and a flared end from which projects the remains of an integral rivet. Aldin Grange pottery was produced in the mid-14th to mid-15th century in what is now Bearpark Civil Parish. Evidence for medieval pottery manufacture in Durham county is not prolific, with Aldin Grange representing one of few relatively large-scale pottery works.

The foot of a cast copper alloy Colchester-Derivative bow brooch of early Roman date. The fragment measures 22.3mm by 6.5mm by 13.9mm (including the catchplate) and weighs 2g. The fragment comprises the lower part of the bow, which narrows gently into a forward-projecting flat semi-circular foot. There is a curving triangular catchplate behind the foot. The front of the brooch, which is slightly convex, is decorated with a longitudinal moulded zigzagged line, which is set within a plain recess.

Medieval copper alloy key with trefoil shaped handle composed of three open rings. A plain collar joins the handle to a circular sectioned stem. The section becomes sub-rectangular at the bit end, due to damage which has flattened the stem. The smooth appearance of the wound suggests that the key remained in use after this damage occurred. The bit is rectangular. It appears that there was originally another dimension to the bit, positioned at the end furthest from the stem and perpendicular to the remaining portion.

The hoop is D-shaped in section and the shoulders flare to meet the oval-shaped bezel which has an empty setting. The finger ring is 16.35mm in width and 7.7mm in length at the bezel which is 10.3mm wide. The finger ring weighs 1.04g.
