An incomplete copper-alloy buckle plate of Medieval date. It is rectangular, with two holes which held integral lugs, one of which is misisng. There is moulding around the outside of the plate. A third integral lug is in situ at the break end of the plate.
Without the buckle frame it is difficult to date more precisely than c.AD 1250-1500.

An incomplete copper-alloy buckle plate. The object is formed from a long strip folded in two, the outer section much longer and wider than the reverse, which is corroded. Square notches have been cut in the centre and to either side of the fold creating a gap for now missing pin, although iron corrosion can be seen. There is a small circular hole through each corner and the centre containing in situ copper alloy rivets, with one missing.
Without the buckle frame it is difficult to date more precisely than c.AD 1250-1500.

Copper alloy and textile strap end. A pair of plates or a single plate folded lengthways with an ogival outer end and a rivet hole of diameter 1.6mm at its inner end, which was probably engrailed. A further rivet at the front end was only noted during image processing. Woven fabric, now of a buff tint, remains trapped between the plates. This might point to a later medieval date within the available range as sumptuary laws enacted following the Black Death, particularly the Statute of 1369, restricted the wearing of leather straps by the lesser sort. A fragment of an iron probable late medieval to early post-medieval scabbard chape. Only the lower end of the object survives. This is a cast, hollow flat triangular chape with a jagged break around its upper edge and a flattened globular terminal projecting from its lower end. The surface of the metal is heavily corroded.
Scabbard chapes are more commonly made from sheet metal, but cast examples in copper alloy and iron are known. Compare PAS records: PUBLIC-03A532, LON-0444D0 and WMID-C808A3. It seems likely to be of late medieval to early post-medieval date.

The zoomorphic terminal has with two wide slanting grooves for ears, two vertical grooves for eyes, a V-shaped groove on either side for the open mouth, and a moulded groove running around the top to form an up-turned nose. A hole runs right through along the long axis from the back of the head to the open mouth, and this would have held the end of a rectilinear handle. A complete cast copper-alloy awl probably of Later Bronze Age date (c.1500-800 BC). The awl is divided into two halves separated by the widest mid-point that is 5.2mm wide and 4.6mm thick. One half is square in cross section and narrows to a point. The other half is rectangular in cross-section and thins to a flat rounded chisel edge that is 3.4mm wide and 1.2mm thick.
The awl has dark brown patination with a few areas of lamination which are light brown.
The awl is 53.3mm long, 4.6mm wide, 4.3mm thick and weighs 4.12 grams.

Copper alloy mount, as kindly identified by the finder. A small pressed metal plate with a leaf-shape flanked by pellets nested in spirals and with a row of pellets above; all details appearing reversed on the back. Green colorant, perhaps enamel or paint, appears on the protruding rounded parts of the motif. Presumably this was set in to a flat surface. Suggested date: Modern, 1900-1920
