An assemblage of 20 pieces of grey ceramic vessel, some decorated, of Early Medieval date, AD 400 - 700. They may be from cremation urns. They are all body sherds. The fabric is hard, dark grey throughout, with an irregular texture. There are frequent large (about 1-1.5mm), slightly rounded quartz or quartzite inclusions. An incomplete copper-alloy zoomorphic hooked escutcheon from an Anglo-Saxon hanging bowl of Early-Medieval date, c.AD 550 – 700. Only the terminal of the escutcheon remains which is in the form of a stylised animal head, possibly serpentine. The neck has a D-shaped section, slightly concave to the underside, and expands into a circular sectioned snout. The snout is slightly swollen and flat at the end.
