It is difficult to be sure which type this coin is because it is overstruck and possibly also doublestruck, but it is probably MIB 159-60 / DOC 76-83 or MIB 164-5 / DOC 105-16. These two issues date to 613-6 and 629-41. It is just possible that the overstrike is DOC 114 which is for 639-40 because it is possible that the date is XXX. An anonymous follis, class A2, attributed to Basil II or Romanus III, AD 976-1034. Die axis probably 8 o'clock, weight is 8.14g, diameter is 32.46mm and thickness is 2.04mm. The coin is overstruck or double-struck and this identification is tentative. This is a very unusual coin to find in Suffolk, unless it is a modern loss (e.g. from a coin collector). Particularly unusual is the fact that it is not pierced or mounted in any way.
