One side of the flan shows [1]64[] centre right. Rotating the flan on a 12 o'clock axis the other side clearly shows a punch stamped oval counter-stamp. A Post Medieval copper-alloy coin. The coin is very worn, but it is probably a Spanish 8 Maravedis, possibly of King Philip III (AD 1598 - 1621). It is just possible to see on the obverse a square topped shield; within the shield is a later countermark bearing the number 8. Around the circumference of the coin, the numberals 'III' (probably for Philip III) can be seen. On the reverse of the coin is another square topped shield bearing some decoration within (proabbly a lion), but it is too worn to identify further.

A Post Medieval copper alloy Spanish reale: 8-maravedis of Philippe III, 1598-1621 AD. Obverse has a castle in shield with a croown above. VIII to one side. Reverse has a lion rampant within a shield with crown above. Mint of Segovia (aquaduct mintmark). Ref. Calico et al. 1982, p. 106, Type 145, Num. 534. c.AD 1616.
