Record ID: ESS-8BD56D
Object type: POT
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Essex
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
The pot is mostly intact, with a narrow base which widens significantly in the body, curving inward toward the neck. The fabric is a coarse grey ware, possibly black burnished, with some sandy inclusions. Interestingly, the base of the pot has four drilled holes present. Given the form and fabric, it is likely that the pot is Roman and dates to the later 2nd century AD onward.
