A fragment of ceramic floor tile of post-medieval date (c.1700-1900). Description: The lower surface of the tile is missing. The Fabric is fine, bright orange, with no inclusions. The upper surface is perforated with groups of seven holes each 2.5mm in diameter with six holes arranged in a hexagon around a central seventh. 7mm below the surface each of these groups of holes connects to a tubular opening with diameter 19.5mm. A fragment from a London Metropolitan ware dish, dating AD1630-1700. Part of the rim remains, which appears to have been flanged and has a rounded lip along the edge. There is a steep change in form as the rim meets the body of the vessel. There are traces of the slip decoration, which is usually yellow or white, though the colour seems to be no longer visible. A fragment of a clay pipe, dating AD 1800-1850. All that remains is the ribbed/fluted bowl with part of the stem. The letters I and P on either side of the base, indicating the maker. The object has been stained brown due to having been in the Thames mud, but would have originally been white. The initials on the base might suggest a maker called James P---. Fragment of a Post Medieval delft ware tile, dating to the 17th century. Made in London. Triangular in shape. The tile is formed of a red fabric with a tin-glazed surface on one side only. The glaze decoration consists of a blue geometric pattern on a white background, with the corner coloured red. The tile is similar to others that were produced by the Rotherhithe pothouse in Southwark, London. The object is very similar in design to LON-A90670 on the PAS database.
