A compete lead alloy Seal Martix of Medieval date (AD 1200-1400). The object is a vesica seal matrix and is ovate in plan. The front of the object has and engraved central motif depicting a lis. There is a circumferential inscription which is heavily abraded. The legible portion reads: []SIGIL[] (seal). The back of the object is predominantly flat with a small spur projecting which would have formed a loop but which is missing. The metal is a dark cream in colour with a predominantly smooth patina. Length: 33.76mm, Width: 17.44mm, Thickness (clear of spur): 4.08mm, Weight: 13.3g.
