A complete Early Bronze Age stone arm guard (bracer) dating to circa 2300-2100 BC. Broadly rectangular in plan in section it has polished bevelled edges. At either end are located central circular drilled apertures to enable fixing to the arm. The faces of the stone have been smoothed. One end is slightly wider than the other. Broadly linear striations on both faces are the result of the bow having snapped-back during firing. Two fragments of rotary quernstones of probable Roman date. The larger fragment was found initially and the smaller one discovered close by on a subsequent visit. Both finds comprise small sections of larger disc-shaped quernstones, each featuring part of the original curved outer edges. The stone from which they are formed appears to be volcanic. The larger fragment has parallel, diagonal grooves across one face, while both faces of the smaller fragment are smooth, suggesting that they are not part of the same object. A mostly complete puddingstone 'beehive' type quern dating to the Late Iron Age or early Roman period, c. 1-160 AD. Ground from a grey conglomerate with large orange, pinkish and black flint inclusions, the quern has suffered some minor losses to its edge though is otherwise preserved in reasonable condition. An incomplete and worn stone object, probably a whetstone or hone of uncertain date. It is formed from a very finely grained dark grey to black stone, and is square in section and rectangular in form. All surfaces show signs of extensive wear and corrosion, resulting in all corners being rounded and the surfaces slightly concave in places. Towards the old breaks there is what appears to be a single band or constriction running around the object. A complete polished stone axe of Neolithic date. It is oval in form and pointed oval in section and formed from a finely grained stone that grey/green in colour in the breaks, with stained brown surfaces that have some post-depositional damage evident in iron staining and several transverse and vertical scratches. A possible stone architectural fragment of possible Medieval date. It is slightly curvilinear in section and asymmetrical in form with rounded outer edges. The front face is decorated with at least nine diagonal grooves, possibly to represent the folds of a skirt. In the centre is a pair of oval apertures. A bi-conical stone bead of uncertain date. It has a central circular aperture. This bead measures 16.25mm in diameter, 20.55mm in height, 7.02g in weight. There is a similar example recorded on the PAS database (KENT-3704E3). Dr Kevin Leahy writes: it is likely that this find represent a fossil sponge known as 'porosphaera' which, although used as beads during some periods of the past, are natural in origin.
