An incomplete Iron Age to Roman harness fitting dating to circa 100 BC-AD 100. It has a rectangular mid-section which, in profile, contains an open rectangular slot. One of the faces of the midsection is decorated, containing a rectangular recessed panel divided down the centre by a longitudinal groove. Either side of the panel, the cells are filled with enamel, one with a deep red and the other with white. An incomplete Roman copper-alloy key dating to circa AD 150-450. The surviving piece consists of a trilobate handle of a rotary key. The flat underside contains a circular socket into which the now missing ferrous stem and bit would have been affixed. The handle is decorated in the form of an openwork trilobate with three circular loops, which now only survive as short stubs. The loops emerge from from elongagated openwork arms. The head is heavy damaged having a C-shaped cross sectioned wing and a small fragment of the other. The back face of the head has the remains of the lower lug, while the upper one does not survive. A fragment of a copper alloy Roman armlet/bracelet of cable (3 strands). It consists of three strands of rectangular cross-sectioned wire twisted together. Each end of each strand appears to have been cut deliberately at an angle. The fragment survives in good condition with a fine green patina. Several Roman wire bracelets were found at Colchester in 4th century contexts, one of which also had three strands and a very similar construction (Crummy 1983, 38, no.1628). An incomplete copper alloy Roman Colchester derivative double lug brooch. The head is semi-cylindrical in shape with a concave reverse. The outer face of each wing appears undecorated. A double pierced lug projects from the centre of the reverse where a sprung pin fitting would have been attached originally.
