A heavily worn copper-alloy Roman dupondius probably of Marcus Aurelius (AD 161-180), and possibly dating to the period c.AD 176-177 (Reece period 8). Possibly DE GERM or DE SARM (in exergue), IMP VIII COS III P P, S C reverse type depicting a trophy, at the base of which are seated a German or Sarmatian woman and man with his hands bound. Mint of Rome. Cf. RIC III, p. 306, no. 1179 passim. Measurements: 24.29mm in diameter, 3.55mm thick and 9.79g in weight.

A copper alloy dupondius of Trajan (AD 98-117), Reece period 5, dating from AD 103 - 111. The coin has a maximum diameter of 27.06mm, a thickness of 2.97mm, and weighs 8.61g. There are indications of a brass metal showing through the patina, suggesting the coin may be a dupondius. Compare http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/trajan/RIC_0539.jpg which suggests that the coin details are: IMP CAES NERVAE TRAIANO AVG GER DAC PM TRP COS V PP, radiate head right, aegis on left shoulder / SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI S-C, Trajan riding right spearing Dacian enemy. RIC 539; Woytek 208c; BMC 901.
