The portrait does not have the distinct chin of Maximus, but no asses appear to have been struck of this type for Gordian III as Caesar. It has suffered some damage, parts of the edge of the flan having been chipped away. It is 29.5mm in diameter and 3mm thick. It weighs 9.2gm.
