A silver hammered coin dating from the Medieval period: a cut farthing of, probably, John (1199-1216). The coin was struck by the moneyer Davi, probably at York. 1205-1207, Class 5b(ii), N. 970. While a Davi was working at the mint of London under Henry II during Class 1b and 1c, the nature of the curls in the portrait and the shape of the R suggests a later identification and its placing at the York mint, despite the mint signature being absent from the coin. It has a length of 9.3mm, a width of 12.7mm, a thickness of 0.8mm, and weighs 0.32g.
