An incomplete silver early medieval penny of the Vikings possibly minted in the name of Sihtric (c. 921-927), imitating coins issued in the name of St Peter, Phase 1 or 2, Two-Line (Horizontal), (North 551 or 553), minted in York, c.905-920. Diameter 18.4mm, Thickness 0.6mm. Weight 0.93g, The coin is influenced by the Swordless St Peter type, which are inscribed with SCI PETRIMO (cf North 551) or a blundered form of this. An incomplete early medieval silver penny of St Peter of York, two-line/horizintal type belonging to Phase 2 of the coin age, dating c.AD910-20 (North 553), mint: York. Ref: North 1994: 116. The coin is in poor condition, badly chipped around the edge and missing about 40% of the field and inscription. Its weight (0.7g) would be consistent with a penny of this type.

An incomplete silver early medieval anonymous Anglo-Scandinavian (Viking) penny, dating to the period c. AD 905-19. St. Peter of York Phase 1 swordless/two-line type (North 551), mint: York. Ref: North 1994: 116; Gooch 2014 (in Naismith, Allen and Screen eds 2014: 459-70). The blundered legends suggest this is a later variety of the type.
