A possible copper alloy coin dating from the Roman period, probably the 1st to 3rd centuries. The coin is heavily corroded and abraded, and both sides are entirely illegible. While the colour of the metal beneath the corrosion would appear to be copper and indicative of an as (dupondii and sestertii being usually struck in brass), its size (31.8mm in diameter, 3mm in thickness, and 16.4g in weight) suggests the coin is a sestertius. An alternative possibility is that this is a Corder token or similar copper token such as NLM-D478BA or SUR-2D3FB5, though the flan does not appears to be…
