An early-medieval (Anglo-Saxon) silver Primary Phase sceat of Aldfrith of Northumbria (685-704). Ref: Gannon 2013: 134-5. The obverse is struck slightly off-centre resulting in the inscription being partially off the flan. The beast on the reverse is somewhat cruder than usual.
