Damaged medieval silver Scottish halfpenny of Alexander III of Scotland, second coinage, dating to the period c.1280 - 1286 AD. The obverse has a left-facing bust with a downward-facing sceptre in front of the face, within a beaded circle. Around the edge the inscription reads: [..] S D [N] I G R A [..] I [..]. The end section of the inscription is missing as the coin has been damaged and is missing a fragment; the S and D are on a tab that has been bent over to the reverse of the coin.
