Base silver contemporary copy of a denarius of Iulia Paula (wife of Elagabalus, 218-222), dating to c. AD 219-226. AEQVITAS AVG, Aequitas standing left holding scales and cornucopiae. This coin is a contemporary copy based on two prototypes. The obverse is based on a coin of Julia Paula from the Mint of Antioch (see BMC V, pl. 92, nos. 11-14), the reverse is probably copied from a coin of Severus Alexander (222-35) (RIC IV, pt. 2, p. 81, c.f. no. 127 (rev), which dates to AD 226).

Roman silver denarius of Julia Paula, dating to AD 219-20 (Reece Period 10), VENVS GENETRIX, Venus seated left, holding globe and sceptre. Mint uncertain, but more likely to be Antioch. The style of the bust is unusual. It does not have the distinctive ridges of Rome coins, nor the braided hair of Antioch; the unridged style does suggest Antioch. Furthermore, the illustrated coin for Rome in BMC V (pl. 88, no. 15) actually appears to be from Antioch. RIC IV, p. 46, no. 222.
