A contemporary copy of a silver denarius from Commodus (AD161-192), dating from AD179-183. Reece period 8. Obverse shows head of Commodus looking right. Inscription has worn away. Reverse shows seated Juno holding a winged victory. Inscription has worn away but S C on the field shows that it was minted in Rome. There is a copper alloy core and what appears to be silver platting around the coin, suggesting it was a forgery. The coin is 28mm diameter, 11.16 grams
