A copper-alloy Roman coin, probably an as of Marcus Aurelius as Caesar (AD 139 - 161), dating to the period AD 154-155 (Reece period 7). TR POT VIIII COS S C reverse type depicting Mars advancing right holding spear and trophy. Mint of Rome. Compare RIC III, p. 184, no. 1322. This is probably a 'Coin of British Association' as listed by D. Walker in his report on the Sacred Springs at Bath (Walker, 1988: pp. 295, 299, nos. 382-435, pl. XXXVIII). It is 23.5mm diameter, 2.6mm thick and 5g.

A much corroded copper alloy dupondius or as of Marcus Aurelius as Caesar, dating to AD 154-60 (Reece Period 7), TR POT (VIIII or XIIII) COS II S C, Mars advancing right with spear and trophy. Mint of Rome. RIC III, p. 184, no. 1322 or pp. 188-9, 1354. This is probably a Coin of British Association, many examples of RIC 1322 being found in the Sacred Spring at Bath (Walker 1988, p. 299, nos. 375-435). The weight of the coin suggests that it is an as.
