A contemporary plated copy of a Roman silver denarius, probably combining an obverse of Vespasian (AD 69-79) with a reverse of Trajan (AD 98-117), possibly dating to the period c. AD 98-117 (Reece period 5). TR P COS II P P reverse type depicting a seated figure left hold branch or corn ears(?) and cornucopiae or sceptre(?), possibly Pax or similar. Prototype of the mint of Rome? Copper-alloy corrosion is visible on both faces where the plating has suffered from damage.
