A complete, worn post medieval copper alloy coin of the City of Utrecht of the Netherlands valuing one Duit and dated 1788. Obverse description: Crowned arms of Utrecht supported by a lion at each side on mantle, curlicue in exergue. Reverse inscription: STAD UTRECHT 1788 over three lines. These were normal coinage of the Low Countries which were at the time split into provinces. This example was minted at the Utrecht province. They were used in England to remedy the shortage of small change at the time.

The obverse depicts the Arms of Friesland: a crowned shield with two lions passant. The reverse depicts fleural decoration with a lion rampant at 12 o'clock and reads FRISIA 1686 on two lines. There is evidence of gilt (or a layer of gold coloured alloy) remaining on both sides. Copper alloy post-medieval duit of Zeeland (now part of the Netherlands) issued by the Dutch East India Company in AD 1763. The obverse has the inscription ZEELANDIA 1763 in four lines, and the reverse has the crowned arms of Zeeland (a lion rising from waves) with a very worn inscription around. A few letters can be made out and from parallels the inscription can be reconstructed as Luctor Et Emergo, translatable as Struggle and Arise, the motto of Zeeland.
