A complete and worn cast copper alloy halfpenny of William III (AD1694-1702), dating to 1701 of the third issue.  The obverse shows a laureate and cuirassed bust right. The legend reads GVLIELMVS TERTIVS. The reverse is of seated Britannia with right hand on knee. The coin is fairly worn and has an uneven surface patina, with visible wear on the edges of the coin. A silver coin of uncertain Post-Medieval ruler. The size of this coin is consistent with a silver sixpence of William III (AD 1694-1702). The coin has been polished and slightly bent into an S shape, for use as a love token. All of the coins original detail has been lost. Coins of William III were commonly converted into love tokens and this example is the correct size for a sixpence of William III. Although no detail remains to confirm this identification.
