Possibly double struck due to there being a lower I behind the head and II at around 2 o'clock in relation to the fainter I. Appears to have been clipped from around 1 o'clock to around 6 o'clock on the obverse.

No inner circles. There is an oblique c.4.20mm long tear in the coin around 12 o'clock on the obverse, and part of the coin is bent upward from around 7 o'clock to around 12 o'clock on the obverse.

An extremely worn, incomplete Post Medieval silver penny of Charles I (AD 1625-1649) dating AD 1625-1649. Possibly Group D. Uncertain initial mark. No inner circles. See North (1991) Vol.2 pg.162 no.2268. Parts of the outer edge of the coin are missing and there is a c.2.65mm tear near the centre of the obverse from around 5 o'clock to around 6 o'clock with two c.0.90mm long tears at either end of the main tear.

The mintmark is missing on the obverse, whilst on the reverse it appears that there is a book mintmark, meaning that the coin was minted in Aberystwyth around AD 1638-1649. The coin is missing part of the rim from roughly 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock.

A silver penny of Charles I AD 1625-1649. This is one of Briot’s milled coins (AD 1631-1632). The reverse inscription begins in the bottom right-hand corner and continues clockwise around the edge of the coin. The coin is pierced at 5 o’clock on the obverse, with the hole having a diameter of 1.49mm.
