A hammered silver post-medieval sixpence of Elizabeth I (r.1558-1603), dating to 1580 part of the second issue of coinage (1561-1582), North Type 1997. Mint mark of a long cross. Very fine, very little wear. Both the Obverse and reverse appear to show signs of intentional wear, with a cross scratched on the reverse focused on the top left quarter of the coat of arms which has also had the fleur de lis associated with the quarter scratched out and striations on the obverse. Measurements: 24.51mm in diameter, 0.9mm thick and 3.18g in weight.
