A forged gilded shilling of an Elizabeth I, first issue. The initial mark is a fleur-de-lis, AD 1559-60. Obverse: ELIZABETH D G ANG FRA Z HIB REGI; crowned bust left. Reverse: POSVI DVE ADIVTOREM MEV; square shield over long cross fourchee. The coin has been pierced at 2.00 and folded across the centre before being straightened out again. The coin has not been clipped. Numismatist Carl Savage notes: The coin looks like it has been broken and stuck together and gilded the obverse legend is also wrong as the full title of REGINA is normally shown on obverse of genuine shillings.
