A complete post-medieval silver sixpence of Elizabeth I (1558-1603). The reverse shows the date of "1564", dating it to the third issue (1561-77). The entire outer rim (which would have contained the legend) has been clipped, making the coin the size of a half-groat. The clipping suggests this coin may have been in circulation until the mid-1650's. Both sides of the coin are extremely worn (especially the obverse) which coupled with the lack of inscriptions makes exact identification difficult. North 2015 (page 137), Spink 2561 (page 240).
