A clipped silver threepence of Queen Elizabeth, (AD 1558-1603), second coinage dating 1573.
The obverse shows a crowned bust, facing left with a rose behind it. The initial mark is an ermine, above the crown. The inscription reads: ELIZABETH:D:G.ANG’FR.EIHI
The reverse bears a long cross fourchée over square shield with date above (1573). The inscription reads [ermine] POSVIDEV’ADIVTOREM’MEV.
This is similar to type 1998 in North (1991, p. 135).
