A silver post medieval coin; a half groat of Mary (1553 – 1554). The coin is chipped, cracked and is bent in half at a forty five degree angle. The field is very worn but most of the legend is still legible. The coin has a diameter of 22.4mm and is 0.5mm thick. It weighs 1.71g. Coins of Mary are not common finds. This one is number 2493 in Spink’s Standard Catalogue.
