An incomplete post-medieval silver base penny of Edward VI, dating to the period AD 1547-1549. It is from the third period, showing the Tudor Rose on the obverse and the reverse depicts a long cross fourchee over a royal shield. North 1945, London mint. (North, JJ, 1980, English Hammered Coinage Volume II, Spink & Son, London, p124, no.1945.)
There are two holes in the coin, on the obverse one is almost in the centre of the rose (measuring 1.68mm diameter), whilst the other is considerably smaller in diameter (measuring 0.69mm in diameter), and is at about 4 o clock.

An incomplete and very worn silver base penny from the third period (AD1550 - 1553) of the reign of Edward VI. The obverse shows the Tudor Rose, the reverse depicts a long cross fourchee over a royal shield. North 1942.
Close to one edge is a perforation c1.5mm in diameter, perhaps so that it could be worn as a pendant.
It is 14.55mm in diameter and weighs 0.39g.
