An incomplete and damaged medieval silver penny penny possibly of Henry VIII (AD 1509-1547), First coinage (North 1778), minted in Durham possibly under Bishop Wolsey 1523-1529. Die axis: 1 o'clock. Unclear initial mark. The coin is very damaged, with most edges broken in irregular breaks, and much of the legend missing from c. 11 o'clock to 4 o'clock on the obverse. A small fragment of this section has broken off from the main body of the coin and has been recovered in association with the coin. Diameter: 13.65 mm. and weight: 0.48 g.
