An incomplete and somewhat worn silver hammered groat struck for Edward III, dating c. 1352-1356. Pre-treaty series D or E, mint of London, lombardic M's, unbarred N's, closed E's, annulet stops. Reverse initial mark: cross pattee. Carl Savage suggests that based on the reverse initial mark, this is more likely to be a series E coin.
