A medieval silver halfpenny of Edward III (AD 1327-1377), Berwick Class 8b (North 1090; Withers Class 6a) dating to the period AD1333-42, mint: Berwick Upon Tweed. Ref: North 1989: 82, cf. pl. 43 no. 1159; North 1991: 40; Withers and Withers 2006: 56. In their discussion of Class 6a, the Withers describe it as having "lumpy hair with no separate strands visible", whereas this coin (which has the listed 6a obverse inscription) has some clearly visible hair strands.
