Silver penny of Edward III (1327-1377). The obverse is very worn, so that the bust is unclear and the inscription is illegible. The reverse is less worn, so that the long cross with three pellets in each quarter is clear, and the quatrefoil with a pellet in the centre is very obvious. Mint of York, with the pellet in the quatrefoil suggesting it was issued by Archbishop Thoresby (North 1228) during the transitional treaty period (1361-1363).

A heavily worn silver hammered groat struck for Edward III, dating c. 1352-1361. Probably pre-treaty series D-G based on unbarred 'N's, mint of London. A large crease suggests the coin has been unfolded at some point, while a one-sided triangular perforation at about 7 o'clock on the obverse face of the coin that has clearly been applied through the point of a knife.
