An incomplete Medieval silver plated contemporary forgery of a groat of probably Edward III (1327-77) dating to c.1351-77. A copper-alloy core is visible with traces of a green patina and the obverse appears to be of billon and is illegible. The reverse is slightly better quality silver and is marked as mint of London. Diameter 26.5mm, thickness 0.8mm, weight 2g.

This assumption is made at the cusps of the tressures of the arches on the obverse do not have lis or trefoil terminals. The flan of the coin itself has been reduced to the size of a penny

A copper alloy with silver wash clipped medieval contemporary copy of a penny from Edward III-(1327-1377). Probably minted in York. The reverse has a pellet at the centre of the main cross, which is a feature of some pennies of Canterbury and York of class 15d and of Durham from the pre-treaty Series A.
