A hammered silver groat of Edward III. Possibly of the Fourth Coinage, Pre-treaty period 1351-61. The obverse has the crowned bust facing within a tressure of nine arches. The mintmark is probably the 'cross 1' type. On the reverse the long cross pattée divides the legend and there are three pellets to each central quadrant. The coin has been clipped and parts of the inscription are missing.

A silver medieval penny of Edward III (1327-1377). The coin is probably (though not absolutely certainly) of pre-treaty series C, dating from 1351 to 1352, as suggested by what can be read of the legend (see coin specific field below) and annulets between the pellets on the reverse. However, the coin is incomplete and so this identification is a little tentative. The coin is in two parts which have been secured to one another by the finder by a film of sticky tape. It was minted in London.
