Silver penny of Edward III (1327-1377). The obverse is very worn, so that the bust is unclear and the inscription is illegible. The reverse is less worn, so that the long cross with three pellets in each quarter is clear, and the quatrefoil with a pellet in the centre is very obvious. Mint of York, with the pellet in the quatrefoil suggesting it was issued by Archbishop Thoresby (North 1228) during the transitional treaty period (1361-1363).

Worn silver penny of Edward III (1327-1377). Crowned facing bust with bushy hair. Quatrefoil and pellet in centre of long cross on reverse. Mint of York (episcopal), so issed by the archbishop. 0.96g. Both inscriptions are difficult to read. Probably Spink 1613 and North 1228, issued by Archbishop Thoresby in the Transitional treaty period, 1361-1363 AD.
