A medieval silver half groat of Edward III (AD 1327-77) or IV (AD 1399-1413). It is a standard half groat with the obverse depicting the bust of the king facing forward with a bifoliate crown within a tressure of arches. At each point of the tressure is a trefoil. The inscription reads EDWAR[DVS.REX.ANGL.Z.FRA.] and is seperated from the motif by a circle of beading. What is irregular about this coin is the crown initial mark, which has no known parallel.
