A fragment of an Early Medieval silver cut halfpenny of Aethelred II (978-1016), probably Last Small Cross type (North 777) dating to c.AD1009-17, mint and moneyer uncertain. Ref: North 1994: 160. The coin has been halved and only the central part of the flan survives, the outer circle having broken away around the line of the inner circle removing all of the inscriptions, leaving just a small single cross pattee on the reverse, and part of the bust drapery on the obverse. Dimensions; Diameter 9.4mm, Thickness 0.3mm and weight 0.18g.
