An fragment of an early-medieval silver penny of Ecgberht of Wessex (802-39), 'portrait / Dorob C' type (North 573 / Naismith C78-C90) dating to c. AD828-39, mint: Canterbury; moneyer: unknown (no longer survives). Ref: North 1994: 118; Naismith 2011: plates 37-42.
The only part of the coin now surviving is its centre within the inner circle, the rest having broken away around the line of the circle.
