A Roman copper-alloy nummus of Arcadius (AD 383-408), dating to c. AD 388-95 (Reece Period 21), of the SALVS REI PVBLICAE, Victory advancing left with trophy and captive. Possibly Mint of Nicomedia. This coin is problematic as there is no staurogram (barred-rho) to the left of Victory, the legend appears to be SAV[ ... ] and the style of Victory is slightly unusual. It is therefore quite likely to be a contemporary copy. The die axis of 3 o clock supports this. If the coin is official, LRBC p. 94, no. 2421 is the closest match; this might have been the prototype for a copy.
