A complete silver plated contemporary copy of a Mark Antony legionary type denarius issued for the 7th legion 'Claudia', dating c. 32-31 BC onwards (Reece Period 1). Travelling mint with Antony. Obverse: ANT AVG, III VIR R P C, Galley. Reverse; LEG VII, legionary eagle between two standards.The coin has been manufactured with a layer of silver foil or plate, which has been wrapped around an iron core. This core has severely corroded and erupted out of the outer layer, with the result that the obverse is entirely obscured by encrustations in addition to large parts of the reverse. Synd…

A complete silver legionary type denarius issued for the 7th Legion 'Claudia' under Mark Antony and dating to c. 32-31 BC (Reece Period 1). Travelling mint with Antony. Obverse: ANT AVG, III VIR R P C, Galley right. Reverse: LEG VII, legionary eagle between two standards. RRC p. 540, no. 544/20. A crescent-shaped bankers mark has been stamped into the obverse, and aside from some wear on this face the coin survives in reasonable condition.
