An incomplete silver plated (copper-alloy cored) copy of a denarius struck for Commodus (AD 180-192) dating to c. AD 186-187. Reece period 9. Reverse: PM TR P XI IMP VII COS V PP, Janus standing facing, holding sceptre within distyle temple. C.f RIC III, p. 381, no. 141, as well as SF-F5E4C2 (for the silver prototype) on the PAS database. The coin is irregularly broken in half.

A complete silver Roman denarius of Commodus, dating to AD 186-7 (Reece Period 9). PM TR P XI IMP VII COS V PP reverse type, depicting a domed distyle temple with Janus standing facing within, holding sceptre. Mint of Rome. RIC III, p. 381, no.141var. This coin is only recorded in RIC as an aureus.
