Record ID: WMID-12C1B3
Object type: COIN
Broad period: ROMAN
County: West Berkshire
Workflow stage: Published
A complete struck/ hammered silver plated and contemporary forgery of a siliqua of Gratian, minted during the late 4th century, between AD 367 - 400 (diameter: 18mm; thickness: 1.5mm; weight: 2.12g). Mint: Arles. The reverse type RESTITVTOR REIP was in use from 364 to 367 (c.f. RIC Arles 6); Gratian only became emperor in 367. This underlines that it is a copy. The coin is in a slightly worn but fair condition. There is some copper alloy corrosion on the coin's surface.
