The figure of Mars and the apex on the reverse together recall the fact that the moneyer's father, Cos. 131, held the office of Flamen Martialis (an office probably held at the time of this issue by the Albinus of Cicero, Brutus 135, but later to be held by the Consul of 100).

A complete silver denarius of Mark Antony, dating to the period 32 to 31 BC (Reece Period 1). The reverse is unclear but probably depicts an eagle flying between two legionary standards. These coins were struck by Mark Antony for the use of his fleet and legions when he was preparing for the struggle with Octavius, which culminated in the Battle of Actium on the 2nd of September, 31 BC (Grueber, 1970, 526).
