Post-Medieval gold finger ring with posy inscription on the inner side, dating post 1798 AD. The ring is cirular in shape and D-shaped in cross section, with a convex outer side and a flat inner side. On the inner side the inscription in italics " Love For Love" is preceded by a crowned 18 and oprobably a duty mark in the form of a sovereigns head, which is unclear. The ring measures 20.8 mm in diameter, and weighs 1.25 g.
The mark of a crown and the figure of 18 was introduces in 1798 to identify 18 carat gold. The duty mark was in use between 1784 and 1890 giving a suggested date…
